ReikiReiki is a Japanese word which means Universal Life Energy. In all cultures there is a name meaning the same ie. In Hindu it is Prana, Chinese – Chi, Christians – light. This Universal Life Energy is all around us and within us and once attuned to Reiki a reiki practitioner can absorb this limitless supply of energy for ourselves and to heal others. Reiki has its origins in ancient Buddhist teachings and was rediscovered in the 1800s by a Japanese scholar – Dr M Usui. It was brought to the West in 1940s by Mrs Takata. It is practised widely in Japan and awareness is increasing in the West.
How does it work?Reiki is a simple, yet effective form of healing. The Reiki healer channels Life Force Energy through their hands to the receiver, activating the body to heal itself. Reiki will go to the origins of an illness and works where the receiver needs it most, It releases blocked energies, cleanses the body and brings about a state of balance. The Reiki giver act as a channel – their energy is not used. Effects of ReikiReiki is a completely safe, natural method of healing. Reiki is suitable for everyone including young and old. Reiki Treatment A treatment time is usually one hour. The receiver remains fully clothed. Usually it takes place lying down but can be given in a seated position. The therapist gently places her hands in various positions either lightly touching or just above the body. There is no pressure involved. During a treatment you may feel a pleasant sensation of tingling or warmth or experience a deep sense of relaxation as the stresses and tension in your body ebb away.
