Maternity Reflexology

Pregnancy is an exciting time for parents to be and sometimes an apprehensive time.  It is a time of emotional and physical changes for the mother-to-be.  Reflexology is a very effective treatment to have during pregnancy as it holistically helps to balance the constantly changing body.  It helps the body’s systems to function as they should.

Safety During Pregnancy

Lynne trained with Suzanne Enzer who is a leading authority on maternity reflexology.  She believes, and Lynne concurs after treating many mums to be, that it is safe to have
Reflexology for the whole 40 weeks of pregnancy.  Although, in the first trimester with a lighter pressure and avoidance of reproductive reflexes.

Reflexology can help with all major and minor symptoms associated with pregnancy, such as:

  • Providing a sense of well-being

  • Maintaining health and not allowing problems to arise.

  • Reduced swelling in ankles and feet

  • Improving sleep quality

  • Helping digestion

  • Giving support to mother to be emotionally, mentally and physically during the rapidly changing body.

  • Reducing symptoms of Symphysis Pubis Disorder

  • Reducing heartburn

  • Balancing blood pressure

Case Studies

In 1982  a project was carried out in London by Dr Motha.  Ten treatments were
offered to 64 women from 20 weeks of pregnancy onwards. 37 women completed the course.

It was discovered that labour times were significantly reduced from text book expected labour times.

The above problems associated with pregnancy also had positive outcomes.
